Budgeting apps that connect to your bank or credit card accounts and that track each transaction are helpful (or even necessary) for managing your household budget. I use one myself!
However, after making my budget, and after giving myself specific amounts each month to spend on Gas, Groceries, Spending Money, etc, I discovered that these large apps, as bulky as they are, leave one thing to be desired.
All of my money lives in one checking account, and I need a way to track how much money remains in each of the categories that I use often (sometimes daily).
This app addresses that!
I didn't want to take cash out of the bank to put into physical envelopes. However, the "envelope" concept is nearly perfect for what I am trying to accomplish. So, I made this app which allows me to create digital "envelopes filled with money". I can now adjust the money amounts in these envelopes after each transaction, as I go about my day, with as few clicks as possible!
Step 1: Click the "+" button to create a new envelope with the amount of money you've currently budgeted (e.g: Gas, $175).
Step 2: You've finished pumping gas; the pump reads "$37.21". Launch the app, type "37.21" in the Amount field, and click "-" to subtract.
Step 3: You now know that you have "$137.79" left in your Gas budget.
